Top four films

Welcome back to letterboxd top 4… okay so I may not be letterboxd but how else would I introduce myself and frame by frame if not my top 4 films. So without further ado and in no particular order let's get into it. True Romance A 1993 thriller and in my personal opinion the most perfect romance film. Written by Quentin Tarantino, who then sold the script to fund his directorial debut film 'Reservoir of Dogs’, and directed by Tony Scott. We follow Clarence and Alabama falling in love, stumbling across a suitcase of drugs and getting stuck in some rather explosive situations. With a jam packed cast including Christian Slater (Clarence), Gary Oldman and Brad Pitt it’s an essential for your Tarantino watchlist; even if it’s not technically made by him. We Bought a Zoo Maybe you’ll see this as a rogue choice amongst the rest of this list, however it’s one of my favourite childhood films and now a comfort film. The 2011 bittersweet comedy is about Benjamin Mee and his children buying a zoo following the death of his wife. It carries more emotional depth than you can imagine juggling the feelings of his teenager, young daughter and also the newly purchased zoo (?!). Starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson, the next time you want something comforting and heartfelt, pick this. Good Will Hunting This film sat on my watchlist for years and my god do I regret not watching it every time I scrolled endlessly though Netflix. With Matt Damon as the lead and Robin Williams as his therapist, this film follows the struggles of Will (Damon) as he navigates his life as part time janitor and part time mathematical genius. Directed by Gus Van Sant, also famous for ‘Psycho’, this movie is bound to make you cry (or at least it that effect on me Dead Poets Society Last but certainly not least the masterpiece that is this film. 1989 Peter Weir directed drama about the boys of a highly conservative boarding school finding a deeper meaning to life led by their poetry teacher John Keating, played by Robin Williams. I could say so much about this film but rather than spoiling it I’ll say; carpe diem, remember to look at things from a different perspective and do you need to cry it out?
