four day shoot for media students
An exciting film collaboration between the National Trust and the community resulted in five WSC media students being involved in a four day shoot, working with a combination of top television, film actors and local actors, all guided by top director and writer, Danusia Iwaszko.
The Theatre Royal instigated the collaboration inviting the public to write stories based in and around Ickworth House, both buildings are owned by the National Trust. In total seven stories written by members of the public were selected and interwoven into one film spanning from 1917 to present day..

The four days of production were long, from 7:30 in the morning to 6:30 in the evening most days. The four first year media students, who were only three weeks into the course, stated that by the fourth day they were exhausted but the experience was worth it, they learnt a lot by taking part in the experience.
Second year media student Tommy Brown said that it was a “partnership” that was “mutually beneficial to all”. One piece of advice Tommy would give to those interested in the production side of a film should be to “be willing to do any work that is thrown at you” because it puts you in the directors line of sight and can open up more opportunities.
The film is currently in the post-production, with music degree students working on the audio by creating foley. Once completed the hour long film will be screened at the Theatre Royal in the springtime. Keep an eye on the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds whats-on page.
